Featured on Allure Magazine and Glamour Magazine, Beauty & Immigration is a photo series zine with a couple of poems that capture how Latina women maneuver their beauty expectations in a new country through an immigrant’s eyes. Praising the body and its energy is essential to Brazilian culture, but can be financially draining in the United States.

“My mother and I became each other's hair stylist, manicurists and used what we could at home to keep up with our beauty maintenance. Self care at home came with simple rules: vaseline as moisturizer, no citrus in the sun, nature’s remedies without health insurance, coconut oil for our hair, and carrot mixtures for our skin.”
